The renovation of the Molitorgasse elementary school in Vienna’s Simmering district, carried out in accordance with historic preservation guidelines, was handed over to the client, MA 56 Wiener Schulen, with the interested participation of Deputy Mayor Bettina Emmerling and the district mayor. The additions (on already sealed surfaces) created a contemporary learning space.
The large-scale unsealing of the property not only contributed to climate protection, but also created new open spaces and outdoor classrooms, providing high-quality outdoor space for the children.
The general contractor Handler Bau GmbH completed the project in just 11 months, despite the building’s listed status, complex foundation challenges, and the many surprises that renovations bring.
We wish the children a good start to the school year, which is no longer quite new, and hope that they enjoy their new school.
