“Made in Denmark” was the title of an exhibition at the GRASSI Museum für Angewandte Kunst Leipzig. The objects from this exhibition form the foundation for the exhibition in Vienna and are supplemented with design classics from museums such as the MAK, the Vitra Design Museum, the Hofmobilendepot’s own holdings, and private lenders.
“Danish design serves as a role model and is the epitome and expression of a timeless yet modern lifestyle to this day.”
Our exhibition design translates this temporal continuity into a spatially generous, flowing, bright design. Diagonal installations form thematic areas, open and close the space.
Overview and visual relations connect the epochs of design development and visualize the development strands and their references. The chosen color scheme of the slides optimally accentuates the material qualities of the furniture exhibits.
Danish designers, ranging from Kaare Klint to Arne Jacobsen and Verner Panton, have shaped the product and living culture of entire generations – especially in the second half of the 20th century, when “MADE IN DENMARK” established itself as an international trademark. However, this exhibition also reminds of the fact that this era was preceded by equally important designers, artisans and internationally renowned trends.
