Embedded in an undulating sea of grass, the extension lies behind the axially symmetrical and listed Holzmeister building from 1923, a shimmering light-coloured bar that seems to float above a recessed concrete base. The structure derives its dimensions from the existing building and interprets the contemporary stylistic elements - pinnacle and pointed arch - in its rhythmic facade.
"The lamellar structure of the façade is visually very attractive and promises a multi-layered lighting atmosphere inside the building" (excerpt from the jury's minutes).
The public farewell level will continue to be entered via the forecourt. A lateral path leads from the central hall through a courtyard with a large shallow water basin into the detached extension. The view wanders through the surrounding park landscape and the calm and reflective water surface. The waiting room receives and includes an exit to the outside. One enters the bright farewell hall axially to the laying out with light from both sides. Depending on the position of the observer, the bulkheads close or open the room. Large-format shading elements regulate the incidence of sunlight towards the existing building, or the sun's rays reflecting off the water create a special lighting atmosphere in the room. The multifunctional curtain divides the room between the laying out area and the entrance to the oven, allowing different room sequences and individual forms of farewell.
