Parkstadt Hietzing will be built on the 26-hectare site of the Am Wienerwald geriatric centre from 2015. The neighbourhood will create around 1,000 new flats and is connected to the district’s urban environment and the public transport network in the east. The western edge borders directly on the extensive recreational area of the Lainzer Tiergarten.
The location and the architectural formulation of the extensions consistently develop the language of the existing building into the present day.
The structural and atmospheric qualities in combination with a targeted mix of housing and uses create a sustainable form of housing for all generations. In addition, there are local shopping, service and wellness facilities along the square-like centre axis, as well as a social infrastructure for all age groups.
